Nearly seven months after Congress passed an amendment to the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA), poster updates are still pending. After a period of public comment on the new legislation that ended on April 18, 2008, the Department of Labor now faces the challenge of sorting through feedback received, then formulating new language and policy to administer the law.
The January FMLA changes – mandatory for all U.S. employers – broaden the list of family members who are eligible for unpaid leave under the act.
